Desire Youth Initiative
PROGRAM / INITIATIVE
Participatory Planning and Community Ownership
About the Program
Desire Youth Initiative promotes participatory planning by involving community members in identifying priorities, shaping interventions, and contributing to decisions that affect their communities. The program recognizes local people as active partners in development and seeks to ensure that community perspectives are reflected throughout the planning and implementation process.
Our Approach
DYI facilitates consultations, community meetings, stakeholder engagements, and collaborative planning processes that bring together community members, local structures, partners, and other relevant stakeholders. By creating opportunities for people to contribute their knowledge, experiences, and ideas, the program strengthens ownership of development initiatives and encourages collective responsibility. This approach helps build trust between communities, the organization, partners, and implementing members while improving the relevance, acceptance, and sustainability of interventions.
